Message from UkeHK:

The Hong Kong Ukulele Festival is a vibrant music festival hosted in the Central Harbourfront Event Space. We welcome people of all ages to join us.

Whether you play an instrument or not, we hope to bring you joy through music. There will be many interesting musical and cultural performances for you to enjoy. In addition to the performances, there will also be ukulele players from all over the world participating in the HK Ukulele contest. There will also be fun game booths, a photography area, as well as music and arts and crafts workshops, so you can experience music and Hawaiian culture in a new and exciting way. You can also picnic under the summer breeze and admire the view of Victoria Harbour while listening to music.

The story of the Ukulele Festival:

UKEHK was founded in 2009 by several people who love the ukulele and Hawaiian culture. At the time, not many people in Hong Kong knew about the ukulele, so we became the first group of people to introduce the instrument to Hong Kong.

When we first started, we were just several people playing music on the ukulele. The ukulele is a small, easy-to-learn instrument. It is not only easy to play, it also brings a part of the Hawaiian culture and spreads love among people. Because playing the ukulele spreads Hawaiian culture, encourages cooperation, forms friendships, and strengthens parent-child relationships, people have started to learn to play the ukulele. What was started by ten people slowly became the event it is today: the Hong Kong Ukulele Festival.

We aim to to make the Hong Kong Ukulele Festival more than a gathering of people who enjoy playing the ukulele, but a fun event for everyone to enjoy the music, have some family time and meet new friends. It is as if the Ukulele Festival is set in Hawaii.

This year is the fourth annual of Ukulele Festival in Central Harbourfront Event Space.

The Ukulele Festival is an opportunity for cultural exchange, spending time with family, as well as enjoying and experiencing music.

Ukulele masters and amateur players from Hong Kong and around the are coming together to celebrate the festival. Also, the second Hong Kong Ukulele Contest will be on to bestow rising talents for their outstanding presentation of music.

Aside from ukulele music, you may also hear a variety of other musical performances, such as guitar, keyboard and harmonica performances.

We welcome you to join the Hong Kong Ukulele Festival, and we look forward to seeing you there!
